Like never before in their long history, Colleges are instruments of international competition and peace. They are the source of many of the discoveries and ideas which move economies forward and are the primary means of advancing the talent required to maintain the continuing development of Society. In a world of international education, College campuses have also become promoters of mutual understanding and stability between peoples. Students and faculty from a number of different countries around the world attend the Dalian Business Institute (DBI) and the Shandong Institute for Translation, (SIIT) communities of 16,000 students. These Colleges with their international faculty, modern resources and new campuses are professional incubators of young people who will use the time in what is, in effect, a skills centre to prepare for a life of leadership, innovation and service. These are the people who will head divisions and companies, charities and governments at all levels. International Colleges are now the dynamic engines for progress around the world but now in China too. DBI and SIIT contribute not just at the level of leadership. By training people for a range of vocations and professions, they are a direct portal into the success of the global economy. The programmes are designed to be relevant to those seeking to work in China ,to create a national and international workforce ready for the challenges and jobs of this booming, global economy. The Scholarship scheme has been devised to recognise and reward young people who have made an outstanding contribution to their local community or to their Society. These may be great or brave acts but they will be just as likely to be a consistent service rendered for no or little reward to a relative or neighbour or someone in need.” James Holmes, Principal.
