Studying at a British University

The British Masters has a high reputation and requires hard work and ability to gain acceptance, Once you are there the rewards are great. There are many different Masters programmes and it is important that you are clear about the one that you want to study. We provide a free advice service to those interested. Normally the international student will choose a taught course – MA. MSc or MBA, rather than a research Masters – MPhil.  The course will last one academic year and  will start in September or early October through to June. It is not possible to start at any other time.

How can we prepare you for the Masters?

The entry standards for a degree are high and it is important that you are well prepared. The three year Diploma is acceptable for many universities if you have a good set of scores, and the four year degree is always acceptable. However it is important that you have other preparation and skills.  Most important is that you reach the required English standard. This not only involves the right reading and writing skills to enable you to do course work and exams but also the listening and speaking so that you can understand a British accent in the teaching situation. Normally the Masters programme will require IELTS 6.5.  Secondly, it is important that you understand the teaching approach in a university in Britain which may be very different from what you are used to. We will give you a full introduction to the study skills needed and information on how to find information and use it. Thirdly, we offer a guaranteed work placement or internship scheme for you to undertake s part of the course. This can be paid or unpaid.  Finally we will introduce you to some of the key subject topics that you will be studying at university. Together with individual tutor support and a range of additional services Management International has created the complete programme to help you prepare for university life.

How can we help if I have a low level of English?
