The majority of our placements are in the London area, but in recent years a significant interest has grown for other parts of the UK and Ireland. MI places in excess of 600 students a year in over 20 different professions. It is one of the fastest growing parts of our business given our heavy involvement in EU programmes. We offer the following types of placement:
The
reasons for doing a Work Experience Placement are numerous but the main
ones are to develop your language ability, professional skills and gain
experience of working in a different country. Many of the people we have
placed have become more employable when they return to their own country.
It must be stated that except for the last category above Work Experience
Placements, are not paid, we ask the companies to contribute to your expenses,
but we cannot guarantee that the companies will pay.
This is not an exhaustive list, as we are always asked to do the unusual. MI follows a special procedure for all its placements and it is advisable to ask for further details. Trainees who wish to apply for a WEP or Paid placements in the Hotel and Catering Service should apply at least six weeks before their proposed starting date.
This course is designed for clients who wish to take a language or training course before starting a period of training within a company. The course consists of four major elements. Classroom Training The course will consist of 25 hours of tuition of language development and English for Special Purposes (ESP), appropriate to the type of Experiential Training you are going to embark on after the classroom training. Most of the companies we use for the period of Experiential Training require an intermediate or higher level of English. This course is designed to bring you up to the level you need. Personal Supervision During the period of Classroom and Experiential training, you will be supervised by an assigned person of MI who will oversee all aspects of your study and training. Experiential Training This is the period of training within a company which is a compulsory requirement of the course. This period of training is monitored and assessed throughout. Preparation and Final Assessment During the period of the course the trainee will work towards the final assessment agreed with his or her supervisor. Qualifications such as NVQ, LCCI, and Diploma courses can be offered upon request. Those students coming from outside the EU, this type of course should fit within the criteria of your visa. However MI advises all its applicants to take advice from the British Embassy within their own country. |
